Family owned and operated, the Cremation Center of Kansas City does not require a membership fee nor are there any hidden fees or requirements. We promise that you will not cross this bridge alone. We will be with you in your time of need, every step of the way. Regardless of when and where a death occurs, call the Cremation Center as soon as possible. We have a funeral director on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.


We serve the entire Kansas City area and beyond, providing dignified and respectful cremation services. For convenience and affordability, no other cremation service in Kansas or Missouri compares.

  • Crematory Location: Our crematory is located in Shawnee, Kansas. Our crematory accepts visitors and allows for public inspection. Please call to schedule a visit.
  • Identification and Security: We have a procedure to verify the identity of the cremated remains, before, during, and following cremation.
  • Additional Charges: Daily storage fee may be incurred after seven days for nonpayment. Additionally, if decedent weighs over 251 pounds, charges will be incurred.
  • Certified Cremation Operators: Our cremationists are certified in the proper use of cremation equipment.
  • Up-Front Pricing: Our General Price List (GPL) is available online or at our office.
  • Witnessed Cremation: Witnessing the beginning of the cremation process offers closure for some people. Any family member desiring to witness this process is made to feel welcome to do so. Please speak with your funeral director should you wish to have this option.

Our Team

Lucy Rumsey DeWitt

Lucy is a 5th generation Kansan who has lived in Johnson County her whole life. She graduated from DeSoto High School and received a BA in Mass Communications from Baker University.


Before she became a funeral director, she worked in the insurance and real estate sector. Her husband, Steve, works in the IT field and they currently reside in Lenexa.


Her family includes two children, 18 chickens, their Golden doodle Cherry, and whichever foster pup they currently have. She enjoys working out at Crossfit, tennis, travelling to any place with mountains, drinking red wine, and learning how to garden.

Ginger A. Elliott

Growing up in a small town in southeast Kansas, Ginger attended Baker University, receiving her degree in Mass Communications. She worked in real estate, legal research, and sales before realizing her true calling was working with families during their time of need.


Ginger is a licensed Assistant Funeral Director and Is currently In her apprenticeship with the the state of Kansas for her formal funeral director license with completion in 2023. She is also licensed with the state as an insurance producer and is happy to meet with families that wish to set up pre-need plans.


Ginger resides in western Shawnee with her son. In her spare time, she is active with the PTA, Scouting and Phi Mu Fraternity alumni events.
