William Ronald Cantrell
William Ronald Cantrell, 79, of Sedalia, Mo., died May 30, 2019.
He was born to the late Ronald and Gladys Cantrell, August 3, 1940, in Canton, Ga. Bill graduated from Cherokee High School in 1958 and received an Associate’s degree in history from Reinhardt College of Waleska, Ga. in 1960. Later that same year, he joined the US Navy and started his service with boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Base. He was stationed at Little Creek Naval Base and served on the USS Rushmore LSD as a machinist mate first class. He spent his time with the Atlantic Gator Amphibious fleet. Bill was also part of the Bay of Pigs invasion blockade of 1961.
In 1966, Bill married Sandra Neasham and the marriage was blessed with three children. They started their life together in Missouri, but moved back to Virginia the following year. Bill worked for the Newport News Ship Building and Dry Dock Company. After a few years, Bill went to work for R & W Mechanical as a contractor at NASA. In 1978, Bill and Sandra opened a heating and air conditioning company, C & H Refrigeration, in Sedalia, Mo in partnership with Jim Hall, which was later dissolved. Bill retired from the company in 2016.
Bill is survived by three children: Taz Cantrell, of Osceola, Mo.; Lance and Darci Cantrell, of Tonganoxie, Ks.; and Tally and Paul Pfannenstiel, of Kansas City, Mo. He also is survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
An interment service will be on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Deepwater Cemetery in Deepwater, Mo.
