William Duncan, 68, Lansing, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at his home. Bill was born April 25, 1942, in Lawton, Oklahoma, the son of William Woodrow and Neva Mae Duncan. Bill is survived by his wife, Sue Duncan; daughter, Wendy Duncan Jacobson; son, William Brian Duncan; mother, Neva Mae Duncan; brother, Woodrow Duncan; and several grandchildren, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.
Bill was a retired certified AME Mechanic. His intent, even as a young man, was to be an airline mechanic at its highest levels, which he achieved through his eventual certification in every area of aeronautic maintenance. After high school, Bill attended the School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma, met his wife Sue, and subsequently gained employment with Trans World Airlines. Most of his adult life revolved around the aviation industry and his family. Bill dedicated 39 years of service to TWA and subsequently, to American Airlines, before his retirement in 2004. Bill was a gentle soul who helped a multitude of people over the years by assisting anyone in need no matter what the task. He was an exceptional husband, father, brother and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held for family members at the Resurrection Life Family Worship Center, Kansas City, Kansas.
The family would like to extend its gratitude for the level of compassion and service that both Sunflower Health Care and the Reverend Dennis Douglas have shown them through this very difficult time.
