Virginia Faye Bruns

Virginia F. Bruns and family would like to thank Dr. C. Ehly for the professionalism and compassion he showed her during the final years of her life.  In addition, the family would also like to express its sincere appreciation to the care givers of Vitas hospice care for their guidance and compassion provided our mother and the family during this journey.  Finally, we wish to express our gratitude to the chaplains of Unity Church of Overland Park, Donna, Joyce and Judy, for helping our mother transition to her final destiny on February 12, 2012.

Virginia was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority from 1964 to 2011.  She was active in her church, Unity on the Plaza, teaching 2 year olds through the 1960’s-1970’s.  She attended Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas.  One of her most memorable jobs was her high school job working with Mr. and Mrs. Russell Stover at their first chocolate store on the plaza.   In the 1970’s she began working for Leland Mast Directory company that later merged with Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages from which she retired after a total of 15 years.

She leaves behind sons David L. Bruns of Perry, Kansas; Steven L. and wife Christine A. Bruns of Kansas City, Kansas; and daughter Karen L. Hauser of Leawood, Kansas.    Seven grand children include Beau, Bree, Mason, Abby, Mackenzie, Heather and Justen and three great grandchildren, Natalie, Vincent and Jamee.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers any donations be given to Vitas Hospice of Kansas City.

Services for the spreading of her ashes will be in the spring at Unity Village rose garden at she requested.

We wish you well, mom.

You know your old when you read the Obits. Thinking of the old neighborhood always brings good feelings. I remember her frozen chocolate. Be good Karen
