Tyler Jacob Jenkins

Tyler Jacob Jenkins, age 35, of Gardner, KS, passed away on May 12, 2018 in Olathe, KS, after a brief illness. He bravely chose to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. He is survived by his adoring fiancee, Angela Lake, his beloved daughter, Morgan Kaye and her mother Natasha, his mother Cherie Flisram (Daniel), brother Matt Jenkins (Crispian) and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Tyler was a member of the US Army for three years and served in combat zones throughout his duty. Born and raised in Wichita, KS, he was also a longtime resident of Ottawa, KS, where he still worked. Tyler worked with the disabled and children for the majority of his career, most recently in the child welfare field. He loved animals, music, movies, and adventures with his daughter. His funny, kind, free-spirited nature will be missed by every heart Tyler touched. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Music Unites (www.musicunites.org) or The Brain Aneurysm Foundation (www.bafound.org). The family will be setting up a separate fund for Tyler’s daughter. Services will be held at a later date.

I first met Tyler at Ottawa High School. We were both paras, and through our conversations, we learned we had a lot in common. Our love of music, children, and avid reading. When I found out he was a huge Stephen King fan, that solidified the fact we should be friends, even though were 37 yrs difference in our age. My deceased husband was another major King fan, and I became a member of his book club to collect all of King’s books for my husband, John. When I retired, and returned to CA to be with my kids, Tyler came to my garage sale, and I let him have all of my husband’s books he wanted for free, (John had an extensive library), except the King books. I just couldn’t let them go. Tyler and I continued to keep in contact as FB friends, and book club. He was a very special man, and had so much more to give to this world. Natasha and he have guven the world Morgan, a special litte girl, Through her, Tyler, and the memories he gave others will never be forgotten. R.I.P., Tyler, you made the world a better place to be in.
