Troy Scott Oehlert, age 50, of Lenexa, KS, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2020, at Olathe Health Hospice House, Olathe, KS, of pancreatic and liver cancer. Troy was born on October 24, 1969 in Hutchinson, KS, to James and Marsha Oehlert. He graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest in 1988, and started working at Pizza Hut in 1987, continuing to work there intermittently over the past 33 years. He was also a manager at Fun Factory for several years.

Troy never married but loved being Uncle Troy to his niece, Samantha and nephews Jason and Ben, of Lenexa, KS. He is survived by his devoted mother, Marsha Oehlert, Lenexa; father, Jim and step mother, Vola Oehlert, Burlington, KS; brother, Trent Oehlert and sister-in-law, Molly, Lenexa, KS; uncle, Pete Troyer, (Janice), Spokane, WA; cousin, Jake Troyer, (Jana), Mead, WA; uncle, Gary Oehlert (Cherry), Haven, KS; cousins Gregg Oehlert (Candice), Topeka, KS; Chris Oehlert (Stephanie), Olathe, KS; and Jennifer Brown (Dana), Wichita, KS, and his many friends.

Some of Troy’s favorite past times included playing pool, watching sports (especially the Chiefs and KU basketball), watching WWII movies, and hanging out with his family and friends. Troy never met a stranger and remembered people’s names from previous jobs, schools, even acquaintances that he would encounter. He was kind and generous to everyone he knew as well as those he didn’t know. Every night, he called or texted his mother to say, “I love you, Mom”. Troy’s sweet disposition and sense of humor will be missed by his friends and family. His illness took him too soon but he was welcomed to heaven by his maternal grandmother Kathryn Troyer, for whom he was a caregiver during her last years, grandfather, Paul Troyer; and paternal grandparents, Alice Shaw, Horace Shaw and Herbert Oehlert.

A Celebration of Troy’s Life, followed by a Pizza Hut pizza party will be hosted by his family on August 24, 6:00-8:00 p.m. At Westside Family Church, 8500 Woodsonia Dr, Lenexa, KS.
