Tony John Shaw, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 at North Kansas City Hospital. He was born, Abbas Tooraj Jahanshah in Tehran, Iran, December 12, 1932. He immigrated to the United States in 1954 for the purpose of education. The remainder of his life he made the United States his home and raised his family in his adopted land. He was an accountant and comptroller and manager of the Interstate Underground Warehouse in Independence, MO. In his later years he managed the family farm.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Mohamet Vali Jahanshah of Iran and mother, Malekey Jahanshah, who after the death of her husband, spent her later years in the United States and became an American citizen.

Tony is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann McDonald Shaw. Tony and Ann’s home was the center of family life for many years, not only for their own children, but for many extended relatives, and he was known as a gracious and generous host. Also surviving are his son, Dr. David Shaw and wife, Mary Kathleen Shaw; grandsons, Joshua, Logan, Lucas and Levi Shaw of Mobile, Alabama; granddaughter, Isabelle Shaw of Columbia, MO; daughter, Jackie and son-in-law, Dr. Bruce Gehrke and their children; grandson, Matthew and granddaughters, Marie and Leah of Parkville, MO. Tony is also survived by his sister, Sudi  Brusewitz, Los Angeles and her son, Ali Sherkat and his daughters, Chloe and Katie of Shawnee, KS. Another sister, Maryam Majidi and her husband Mansur survive him along with their children, Shawn all of Los Angeles, and Dr. Shadie O’Neil and her husband Dr. Darren O’Neil and their childrer, Dylon and Leyla of Indianapolis, IN.

A private celebration of his life was held at his Daughter’s home in Parkville. Tony was a force in the life of his family. His life touched many others also. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
