Sue was born May 3, 1956 and is predeceased by her parents, Jim & Margaret Pontious. She is survived by her husband, Don Istre, siblings: Michael & Jeffery Pontious and Sharon Manges, sons: Thomas Murray & Jacob Istre, and her beloved granddaughters: Makenzie & Lacie Ellis Murray, nieces /nephews: Nicole Rico, Renee Howard, Scott Pontious, Jessie Calkins and Jordan Furst, great nieces /nephews: Emma, Mark, Matthew, Elie, Evan and Harlow.Sue was raised in Sanford, Michigan, relocated to Louisiana in 1980, she then moved the family to Kansas in 2015 to be with her son Thomas.
Sue was happiest as a mother and homemaker, (part time street fighter). She loved plants, flowers and would gladly take you on a tour of her latest garden creation sprinkled with a bit of hand made yard art of course. The woman was a crafter extraordinaire, as well as a garage sale junkie, wait a minute any sale – just stay out of her way! Food, do not get started on food, Sue was a whirling dervish in the kitchen and cooked up some cajun cuisine that would knock your socks off and leave you begging for more and more and more. Now aside from her family Sue was also extremely devoted to her chihuahua’s (yes animals were part of the family)… Life for Sue was never complete without little fur babies… So we bid you farewell Saint Sue for putting up with ALL of the family ALL of the time…
Cremation has already taken place per Sue’s wish.
Service
A celebration of her life will take place in May 2020 somewhere in Kansas (Dorothy).
Susie, as grandpa George lovingly referred to her as, was a very dear and long time friend of mine that I think of so often. I understand that life has a path laid out for each one of us but I sure wish ours would have crossed more frequently than it did after she moved away so many years ago. RIP dear friend knowing that I treasure each and every moment, good or bad, spent with eachother!!
Will Miss you my old friend
That is a good story about Mrs. Sue. She was a beautiful and feisty lady and brought joy to many. I will never forget her soul.
The greatest legacy of a mother is her children. Keep making her proud.
