Berniece Beets, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 23, 2013.

Berniece, as she was known most of her life, was born in Independence MO on December 11, 1918. She was a life-long resident of Independence and married Carl Eugene Beets who passed away November 20, 1969.

She truly loved to be with family and friends. She lived for family dinners and holidays so she could always see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved surprise visits. Her hobbies were reading, knitting and baking wonderful cheesecakes.

For the past 18 months, she lived at the Groves in Rosewood Center. The family thanks the staff, hospice and all the workers who took such good care of Berniece in the last months of her life. Their time, understanding and care that they gave our dear Berniece will not be forgotten.

Berniece leaves behind her son Dennis and his wife Barbara and grandsons Matthew Beets and his wife Amanda and Christopher Beets. She also leaves Matt and Amanda’s two beautiful children, her great-grandchildren, Ashton and Carly Beets.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 7 at Salem Cemetery, 1823 N. Blue Mills Road, Independence, Mo. The family would appreciate donations for funeral expenses in lieu of flowers.

We will miss her but we are comforted knowing that she lived a long fruitful life surrounded by loving family and that she is in heaven now, young, vibrant, and smiling.

Berniece always had a ready smile and hug for everyone she came in contact with. She was always interested in how you were doing and what was happening in your life. She always treated everyone with dignity and respect. She was a hard workin’ woman and she held her own, on her own, for many years. I am honored to have known her, and a better person for it. My love and prayers to Dennis, Barb, Matt And Amanda, Christopher, Carly and Ashton. I love you all and I’m so sorry for your loss.
