Shawna Jo Tallen-Lee

Shawna Jo Tallen-Lee, 37, of Blue Springs, Missouri, made the transition into spirit on June 29, 2010 after a valiant struggle with respiratory illness.  She was born on April 30, 1973 and enjoyed her early years attending James Walker, Blue Springs High School and UMKC.  Shawna’s mother, Patricia Jo Poling and father, Gary Heslop preceded her in passing.
Early in life, Shawna found a career in the restaurant and food service industry.  For the past eight years, her loving presence as wife to David Lawrence Lee and mother to sons Richard Gus Tallen III, 18, and Donavan David Lee, 6, became Shawna’s priority.  Their memorable times together will be deeply missed.
Shawna’s devoted surviving family includes grand parents, John and Bobbie Beemer, cousin Patti Lynn Metz, Aunt Pamela Poling and many more.  They have given generously of their time, energy and encouragement to help Shawna, David, Richard and Donavan through these difficult days.
Her warmth, beauty and charisma drew many close longtime friends into Shawna’s life, some dating back to early childhood.  Children of all ages were especially charmed by her kind and loving nature.  The family is thankful for these loyal friends whose unwavering devotion and assistance have been an inspiration and comfort during the extended illness and hospital stays.
An informal memorial celebration of Shawna’s life is planned at the Savoy Hotel Century Room on Sunday, July 11, 2010  from 3:30 to 5:30 pm (816-842-3575).  Family and friends are invited to share their thoughts and memories of a truly remarkable spirit…Shawna Tallen-Lee.
