Sharon Lee (Ray) Guthrie

Sharon Lee (Ray) Guthrie, 61 of Olathe, Kansas, formerly of Topeka and Lawrence, passed away at home December 15, 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born September 28, 1950 to Wilbur and Meredith Ray, she attended and graduated from Lawrence schools. Sharon married Joseph L. Guthrie July 19, 1969. They later divorced and she never remarried. She worked at King Radio and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Topeka. During the Christmas season, Sharon rang bells for the Salvation Army.She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and a sister. Sharon is survived by two loving sons, David E. and Joseph B. (Nikki S.) Guthrie, three loving sisters, Barbara Lemon, Beverly Craig and Carolyn Ray and two granddaughters.

A celebration of her life will be held in the spring of 2012. Memorial contributions may be sent to Capital Federal Savings in Sharon’s name.

    Sharon was a blessing to so many people. She will be missed greatly. She made a video the day before she went home to the Lord, and in the video she said she was praying for a miracle. I believe her prayer was answered…just not in the way we can yet understand. I believe when she awoke to see Jesus face to face, she was granted her miracle. RIP Sharon…until we meet again.
