He worked for Taylor Forge Engineered Systems for over 50 years as a mechanical engineer. Bob was a leader in the engineering field, holding six U.S. and seven foreign patents for his innovative designs. He was elected as an ASME Fellow in 2002, in recognition of his engineering accomplishments.

Bob loved to travel and visited many places in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Central America and Australia during his lifetime.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eve Lankston and his four children; Kathy, Jeff, Nancy and John Lankston and six grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held in Kansas City at a later date.

I had the pleasure and honor of working with Bob at Taylor Forge from 1975 – 1980. He was an excellent mentor – most of the useful knowledge I have used to further my career came from Bob. Things he taught me years ago are relevant today and I often end discussions “That’s what Lankston told me years ago”.

Bob had a great outlook on life and an incredible sense of humor – I would love to have copies of some of the cartoons he had on his walls. Recognizing, of course, they may not be politically correct in this day and age.

Bob was a great man and will be missed by many, but parts of him will live on through all he touched.

Your family has my deepest sympathy.
