Robert B. Crosthwait, Sr.
Robert B. Crosthwait, Sr. 85, of Lake Waukomis, Missouri, passed away November 19, 2013 at the Villages of Jackson Creek, under the care of Grace Hospice.
Bob was born March 1, 1928 in Granite City, Illinois to Albert Logan Crosthwait and Virginia Kegin McCaughey. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in the Class of 1947 and later served in the US Navy. Bob was a resident of the Kansas City area all of his life. He worked at various businesses including the KCMO City Market. He also owned “The Basement” bar in Gladstone which was under Gladstone Bowl. Bob retired from TWA after 42 years as a line mechanic. He was a 66 year member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Bob had many hobbies including bowling and golf. He was a co-founder of organized T-Ball in 1962 and was on the Board of Directors of North Kansas City Little League from 1958-1967.
Bob was an Alderman and former president of the Lake Waukomis Association where he was a Hall of Fame Inductee. He was always the “life of the party”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Richard, granddaughter, Toni Moore and a great-grandson, Spencer Crosthwait. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, brother Albert Jean Crosthwait, two sons, Jerry and Buddy (Barbara), his daughter, Cathy (Dennis) Pryor,daughter-in-law Sally Crosthwait, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Bob was greatly loved and will be missed by his family and his many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 3-8 pm on Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Lake Waukomis Community Building, 1147 S. Shore Drive, Lake Waukomis, MO 64151.
