Philip Dale Harris

Philip Dale Harris, 59, of Shawnee, KS, passed away in his sleep in the morning of Sunday, June 3, 2018.

Phil was born in Louisville, KY to Arlandale Harris and Ruby Harris (Thomas). He graduated from Mid America University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business. Phil married Kathryn Davis June 20, 1981. He was a proficient freight broker and office manager for two local businesses.

Phil enjoyed wood working and gifted many of his creations to his wife and family. He had an appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, and target shooting. Most of all, he loved going on long rides with Kathy. His biggest passion was football, specifically the CHIEFS, and he absolutely loved running his fantasy football draft. Everyone called him “Commish” and he took his title seriously.

Phil endured many obstacles in his life, but through it all he kept a positive outlook. He was encouraged and encouraged others. His faith in God lead him to be a light to push back the darkness. Phil loved and was loved by many. Above all he loved his wife, children, family, and cats. He moved heaven and earth to ensure his family knew they were special and loved.

Phil is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathy Harris, his children Courtney Harris, Rachele Harris, Aaron Harris, and Mikaela Werner (Kelly), his parents Arlandale and Ruby Harris, his sisters Linda Dawson and Melissa Lawrence, and his 3 cats Elvis, Floyd, and Lynyrd.

A Memorial Service will be held on June 9, 2018 at 11:00am at Lenexa Baptist Church, 15320 W 87th St Pkwy, Lenexa, KS 66219. Donations can be made to Lenexa Baptist Church in Phil’s name to assist with the Youth Camp Ministries.
