Mainey, Opal

Opal Mainey joined her parents in heaven on October 16, 2014. She was born in Stark, Kansas to H. Avon Doty and Maude Marie Doty (Gemmill) on May 16, 1935. She grew up in Chanute, Kansas and graduated from Chanute High School. She lived most of her life in Overland Park, Kansas and was a realtor for many years.

She leaves three daughters Tammy Engelman, Avie Mainey, and Doty Shepard, grandchildren Joseph Engelman, Josh, Zaden and Logan Shepard, sisters Mary Lee Lowry (Bob), Alma Hadden (Jimmy), and Annabelle Lasley. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Johnie Doty, and granddaughter Maggy Jane Engelman.

A graveside service will be held October 26, 2014, 1:00 PM at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Savonburg, Kansas.

“I will lie down in peace and sleep for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.” Psalm 4:8

    My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
    Opal and I worked together at the Manning real estate company for several years. We all have many fond memories of her.

    Opal and I instantly became friends when we worked together as realtors. She is one of the most beautiful women I have ever had the privilege to know. She loved her family and friends. I was very blessed to have her in my life and I already miss her. My condolences to the family.
