William M. Whim, age 90, Father, Grandfather, and Husband passed away on June 13, 2024 at Hillside Village in Desoto Kansas. Bill was born in Plainfield NJ on January 1, 1934 After graduation from Shawnee Mission (North) in 1952. Bill then served 4 years in the United States Navy. Where he was stationed at Whidbey Island, Washington. He was a heavy equipment operator with the Seabees. He requested to be the Admirals driver and was accepted. During this time he drove for Admirals Dufek and Byrd. He also was deployed in "Operation Deep Freeze I and II" which took him to the Antarctic, South Pole for 2 tours lasting 6 months each(1955-1956). After an Honorable discharge from the United States Navy. He then went into the trucking industry where over the years he earned many distinguished awards including National Truck Driver of the year twice, and accomplished over 5 Million miles logged accident free. He is survived by his wife Charlotte, two children Chris(Cathi) Whim, Wellsville KS. and Michael (Ann) Whim, DeSoto, KS. Bill had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill loved westerns, tractors and welding.
The family will receive friends Saturday July 6, 1-3 p.m. For a CELEBRATION OF LIFE at the First United Methodist Church, 8760 Kill Creek, DeSoto, KS. 66018.
