William Bill
Seidl
May 29, 1951 — May 7, 2026
William “Bill” Dean Seidl, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the age of 74.
Born on May 29, 1951, in Great Bend, Kansas, Bill lived a life defined by devotion to family, public education, and service toward others. He had a great faith in Jesus that guided his life every day. He was a man who could always be counted on — whether for steady advice, a helping hand, or a warm laugh.
Bill dedicated his life to education, mentorship, and the development of young people. A lifelong educator, coach, and sports official, he believed deeply in the values of discipline, teamwork, fairness, and perseverance. Throughout his career as a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent, he inspired countless students and athletes both in the classroom and on the field, leaving a lasting impact on generations who benefited from his guidance and encouragement. Whether teaching, coaching from the sidelines, or officiating games with integrity and respect, he earned the admiration of colleagues, students, players, and the broader community alike.
As a husband, he was a faithful partner and best friend to his wife, Judy, sharing 54 years of marriage filled with love, resilience, and countless cherished memories. Together, they built a home centered on faith, kindness, hard work, and compassion.
As a father, Bill was deeply proud of his children, Nate, Morissa, and Matt. He encouraged them to pursue their dreams, taught them by example, and loved them unconditionally. His guidance, humor, and unwavering support will remain with them always.
As Papa to Emma, Maxwell, Everett, Jarrett, Morgan, Jaxon, Myla, Charlie, and Wyatt, Bill was devoted to the GameChanger app and always had at least one of his grandkids’ games going, often while attending another sporting event in person. He was an expert at texting funny jokes to the kids to get their days off to a light start, and they each often sought his wise advice in tough times.
Bill was also a devoted brother to Barb, Steve, and Anita, maintaining close family ties throughout his life. He treasured time spent with family and friends and never missed an opportunity to relish in the memories of their childhood.
Bill shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Hank, who was his constant companion. The two were rarely seen apart, especially during their favorite pastime — riding together on Bill’s golf cart through the neighborhood and around the yard. Those quiet rides brought Bill great joy and became a familiar and heartwarming sight to family, friends, and neighbors.
Bill enjoyed mowing his yard and tending the trees in his yard that he had dedicated to each of his grandkids. He found happiness in the simple moments: conversations on the porch, family gatherings, and time spent with those he loved most.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, Morissa and Scott Friesen (Everett, Jarrett, Myla and Wyatt) of Olathe, Kansas and Matt and Sabrina Seidl (Morgan and Charlie) of Silver Lake, Kansas; his beloved daughter-in-law Arianne Seidl (Emma, Max and Jaxon) of Burlington, Kansas; his siblings, Barb and Larry Sloan, Steve Seidl, Anita and Jamee Nirider; and many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Berneice Seidl; his oldest son, Nate Seidl; and his sister-in-law, Jan Seidl.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Grace Church, 17401 W 167th St., Olathe, KS 66062.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Bill Seidl Memorial Fund, ℅ First Option Bank, 21101 W 223rd St., Spring Hill, KS 66083, in his memory. Funds will be dispersed to support education at the schools Mr. Seidl impacted.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we are grateful for the life he lived and the love he gave so freely. His memory will continue to guide and comfort all who knew him.
