Timothy Edward Townsend, 73, passed away at his home on May 28th, 2023, after a months-long battle with cancer. Tim was born to Richard and Deloras Townsend on November 26, 1949, in Salina, KS. He was the younger brother of Deevie Townsend (McPherson) and the older brother of Tracey Wedel (McPherson). Besides a brief time living in NY as a child, he mostly grew up in KS. After graduating High School, he met the love of his life, Vickie Simon. They married on June 5, 1971, and eventually settled down in Wichita, KS where they raised their three children Terric, Thae' and Tana. He worked construction for several years before graduating from Wichita State University. After getting his degree he worked at Cessna Aircraft for 29 years, eventually leaving Wichita to be closer to his children and grandchildren in Kansas City. Once in Kansas City, he joined Lowes where he worked for 18 years. As a true Kansan, his passions were the outdoors, hard work and family. He loved hunting, pheasant was his favorite, but he was just as happy being outside doing chores at the farm. He was an unbelievably hard worker and would do anything to help someone else out; he showed his love for others through acts of service. And, most important to him was his family whom he cared for deeply and made sure he was present in their lives each day. He was a simple and kind man that will be missed by many. Tim is survived by his sisters Deevie & Tracey and their families, his wife Vickie, his son Terric and daughter-in-law Chan, his daughters Thae' and Tana and his six grandchildren Cameron, Ally, Zoe, Sierra, Sienna and Kora. He was preceded in death by his father Richard and his mother Deloras. In accordance with Tim's wishes, traditional visitation and funeral service will be replaced with a celebration of life to be held July 8, 2023 from 2:00 to 5:00 p. m. at Tanner's Bar and Grill, 14337 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, Kansas.
