Thomas
Dreiling
Aug 7, 1941 — Jun 15, 2024
Thomas E. Dreiling, 82, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024 after a prolonged illness.
Tom was born in Junction City, Kansas to Dr. Daniel D. Dreiling & Felicitas Dreiling. He attended St. Xavier High School and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
Throughout this life, he held various occupations including working for General Development of Florida as a Real Estate salesman where his nickname was "Sam Swamp" which he was very proud of. He also sold health insurance, worked for the Kansas City Star Sports Desk, and later was a specialized medical courier. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as President of the St. Thomas More Men's Club.
Two of Tom's biggest passions were politics and sports, especially the Chiefs, Royals and his beloved K-State Wildcats. He was known for making the famous Dreiling sausage on Christmas mornings. Tom always loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Tom had a warm and welcoming nature and never knew a stranger. He was always the life of the party, known for his humor, entertaining tales and larger than life stories. He had a generous spirit, taught his children about random acts of kindness and left a lasting impact on those around him.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Felicitas, twin brothers Pat and Mike, brother-in-law Joe Vader, Mike Greene (Boone) and his beloved niece Sarah Vader. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Debi Dreiling, daughters Brittany Cornett, Jessica Folken (Zachary), and Chelsea Dreiling (Matthew Wegehaupt). He was a cherished "Mumbo" to his grandchildren: Delaney, Matty, Rory, Annabelle, Oscar, and Iris. Thomas is survived by his sister Mary Rauh, sister Diane Vader, brother Danny Dreiling (Bev) and brother Billy Dreiling (Linda). He is also survived by 23 nieces and nephews, countless great nieces and nephews, and his lifelong best friend Terry Wood.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the care teams at Stratford Commons Rehabilitation Center and Monarch Hospice, especially Carrie, for their love, care and comfort during his journey.
Tom will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and love will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched. As Tom would say," Keep the Faith". May he Rest in Peace.
A graveside service to honor Tom will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Junction City, Kansas on August 3, 2024 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
