Obituary

Susan Lynn Rose, age 78, of Kansas City, Missouri died October 9, 2024, following complications from a number of health issues.

Susan was born September 27, 1946, in Emporia, Kansas where she graduated from Emporia High School in 1964. She was president of the Kayette Club, a state-wide service organization, and was honored to be chosen as her class representative as commencement speaker.

Susan graduated from Kansas State Teachers' College, now Emporia State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1968. She was president of the Association of Women Students, an officer of Cardinal Key, an officer of Spurs, an officer of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, and listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.

Following graduation, she taught for several years at Campus High School in Wichita, Kansas as well as at Ruskin Heights High School in the Kansas City area. Following this, she was employed for many years in Human Resources at Marion Laboratories in Kansas City. While there, she was honored to receive a president's award from Marion's president Marion Kauffman. Since Dr. Kauffman also owned the Kansas City Royals at the time, Susan enjoyed attending many games.

Susan received her Master's Degree In Liberal Arts from Baker University and received the Masters Student of the Year award from the Baker faculty. After her work at Marion Laboratories, she was an adjunct professor of English Composition and Public Speaking at Longview, Kansas City Kansas, and Johnson County Community Colleges, a substitute teacher for Kansas City area schools, and an editor for scientific papers at American General. Susan was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs, loved film, theatre, laughter, narrated stories, writing, and favorite restaurants.

Susan Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Naomi Rose of Emporia, Kansas, a sister, Sherry Rose Trommer of Georgetown, Texas, and a

niece, Kelsey Austin Johnson of Austin, Texas. She is survived by a sister, SallyRose Johnson of Austin, Texas, her brothers-in-law Rick Trommer and BodieJohnson, her niece Caitlin and husband Andrew Erchinger, her nephews and niece Andy, Griffin, and Angela Trommer, her cousin Debra Kline as well as many other cousins and relatives.

A private celebration of Susan's life is planned. Her family asks for your prayers and at your next gathering of family and friends that you offer a toast for Susan and her life. May God Bless.
