M. Susan Palmer of Roland Park KS passed away Saturday after suffering a heart attack following debilitating strokes in 2021. She was born in St. Louis to James J Palmer and Rita M Bourke Palmer. Mr. Palmer worked for the railroad and moved the family every three years or so. Susan lived in Shreveport LA, Odessa, TX and KC, MO growing up. She was preceded in death by her parents, older sister Maureen and younger brother Matthew. She is survived by her spouse, her older brother James J, Jr, and younger sister, Kathleen. Susan shared her life and a house with Bethene L. Gregg for 31 years. The couple enjoyed the benefits of marriage on July 18, 2015 at the Wyandotte County Courthouse. Susan was proud to work at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art for 20 years, becoming the exhibit installation painter. Susan loved her shelter puppies. She and Beth regularly donated to area shelters. Susan also loved music, especially by Bob Dylan. Throughout her life Susan's laughter was infectious and her wit a delight to all who were privileged to know her. She is now reunited with her pets who have passed. Her ashes will be buried during a graveside service at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Warrensburg, MO. 2 pm August 25, 2023. A mass of remembrance will be held at the Church of Redemptorist at a future date.
