Steven James Crawford, 76, passed away on September 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, musician, and man of faith. He loved God deeply and carried that faith with him throughout his life. He found joy in life’s simple blessings—spending time with his family, going to the fitness center, bird watching, and making music.

Music was an important part of Steve’s life. A talented drummer, he had a lifelong love of music and found great happiness behind a drum set. Whether through music, faith, or time spent with those he loved, Steve brought his own special rhythm to the lives of those around him.

Above all else, Steve treasured his family. He shared 56 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Judy, building a life together filled with love, family, and countless memories.

Of all the roles Steve held throughout his life, none brought him greater joy than being a grandfather. His grandsons, Tyler and Jackson, truly meant the world to him. He loved them beyond measure, took immense pride in them, and considered the gift of being their grandfather one of the greatest blessings of his life. The bond they shared was incredibly special and will forever be a treasured part of his legacy.

Steve received his Bachelor of Science Degree at Missouri Western State University in 1973. Steve was a lifetime member of the National Wildlife Federation, the National Eagle Scout Association, and the National Audubon Society, and was certified as a Master Gardener from Kansas State University.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judy; his daughter, Stephanie (Chad) Smith; his son, Bill; his beloved grandsons, Tyler and Jackson; and his sister, Vickie (Carson) Petty.

Steve will be remembered for his faith, his love of music, chess, Star Trek, the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, his devotion to his family, and the tremendous love he had for his grandsons. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love he gave and the memories he created will live on.
