Sandra Sue (Sandy) Schaffer (Effertz), 01/12/1947 to 12/23/2025, died of cancer on Tuesday morning, December 23, 2025.

Sandy was a much-revered school teacher, a nationally known watercolor artist, and, more importantly, a loving mom, grandmother, sister, and wife.

Sandy leaves her daughter, Kristen, her son, Scott, her brothers, Bob and Steve, her grandsons, Sergio and Ceasar, and her husband, Larry.

Sandy died as she had hoped, peacefully, without pain, in a bed in the front room of the house she built and decorated 37 years ago.

In the mornings, she watched the sunrise through the trees in her backyard. When the sun went down, she fell asleep to a fire burning in the front-room fireplace. She was surrounded by her family.
