Obituary

Richard "Rick" Stucinski, born on May 19, 2006, in St. Paul, MN, passed away on March 1, 2024, in Overland Park, KS. Rick lived a life filled with adventure. At the young age of 17, he left an unforgettable mark on many who crossed his path. He influenced many, and was loved by many. However, he underestimated himself, and the power he had for creating good in the world. But now, his power and influence has been unleashed to his successors to help our hurting world, especially his confused and struggling peers. As times passes, this will become more and more apparent.

Throughout his journey, Rick worked at various roles, including at a children's trampoline business, as a cook at Sonic restaurant, and as a dishwasher at a nursing home. He was especially good with those who were younger than him.

Rick enjoyed skateboarding, biking, swimming, cars, urban exploring, martial arts, traveling, movies, family, and friends. He liked to tease and play tricks on people. His "unique" brand of humor will be missed. He could be cocky, arrogant, stubborn, and rebellious. He did things his own way, and his attitude was that he didn't "need" to be taught anything. He tried to put on a front that he was a tough, mean, and bad guy, but those who really knew him were not fooled. They saw his heartfelt gentleness and compassion. He never, ever wanted to hurt anyone, period. He loved plants and animals. His true nature was that of a giver.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents James and Ethyl Howard, and Richard and Violet Stucinski. Rick is survived by his mother Rhonda Stucinski, his father Richard Stucinski, his stepmother Carmen Harman, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and Minnesota, some very special friends, and his faithful dog Fluffy.

A Jesus-centered spiritual service will be held in memory of Rick at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mission, KS. Rick will be cremated, and his ashes will find their final resting place in a room inside Trinity church. His urn will be housed in a niche inside the room, right next to the future resting place of our much loved Pastor Emeritus and his wife. The outside plaque of Rick's niche will bear his name and life dates. All are welcome to visit and honor his memory anytime during acceptable church hours.

In his short time with us, again, Rick touched many hearts and inspired those around him. His legacy of kindness, love, humor, sarcasm, and "bad boy" facade will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Rest in peace, Rick, you are the man!

There will be a visitation on Monday March 25, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 6:00pm. The funeral service will follow from 6:00pm to 6:45pm. Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 5601 W. 62nd St (Shawnee Mission Parkway and Nall) Mission, KS 66202.
