Obituary

Rhonda Antoinette White

February 15, 1958 – June 1, 2025

Rhonda Antoinette White, 67, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on February 15, 1958, in Newfoundland, Canada, Rhonda’s life was marked by resilience, deep faith, and an unwavering love for her family.

Rhonda is lovingly survived by her daughters, Jennifer Buenrostro (Moe) and Sharon Aslin (Jeremy); her cherished grandchildren Jamison White, Stevie Judkins, Cameron Judkins, Faith Judkins, Elon Buenrostro, Parker Aslin, Isabelle Aslin, and Graham Aslin; her brother Bob Phillips (Jody); and her sisters Olivia, Sylvia, and Gena.

As a young girl, Rhonda enjoyed roller skating and competed in several competitions. She often recalled fond memories of spending time in the bar her grandmother owned, where she felt at ease among adults even at a young age.

Rhonda’s dedication and search of purpose showed early in life, with her first job as a carhop at the Belton Drive-In. She later worked at Fairfax GM on the assembly line before dedicating herself to raising a family. For most of her life, Rhonda was a devoted homemaker, caring for her daughters with love and purpose. Later, she worked at Children’s Place, where she delighted in dressing her grandchildren in the latest fashions.

Rhonda lived in several states throughout her life—Missouri, Kansas, Maryland, Illinois, Tennessee, and Texas—and embraced each new home with grace and faith. A devout Christian, she found joy in the simple things: summer thunderstorms, jigsaw puzzles, garage sales, watermelon, and most of all, children. In addition to raising her own, she lovingly cared for many others as a babysitter, church nursery volunteer, and, in recent years, a beloved part of the Mother’s Day Out ministry at Crossroads Church—where she was affectionately known as “Aunt Rhonda.” Crossroads is currently building a playground for their congregation, which will be dedicated in her memory.

Rhonda’s impact on those around her was profound, especially through the love and care she gave to her grandchildren. She helped raise several of them from birth to school age so her daughters could work full-time, and she continued to be a constant source of warmth, wisdom, and laughter in their lives.

A celebration of Rhonda’s life will be held on June 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the home of Bob and Jody Phillips. Her remains will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to any children’s charity, honoring Rhonda’s lifelong devotion to nurturing and loving the next generation.
