Obituary

Nancy Marie Rivas, born on August 31, 1938, in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024, in Independence, Missouri. She was a beloved homemaker and former operator at AT&T, known for her unwavering dedication to family and her vibrant personality.

Nancy, affectionately known as Marie or Riddie, had a passion for sewing, gardening, and traveling in her RV with her husband, Ruben Rivas. Together, they created cherished memories at their farm, a place that held a special spot in her heart. She loved indulging in ice cream and was an avid fan of rock 'n' roll music from the 1950s and 60s. Her sense of humor and strong-willed nature endeared her to all who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Ruben; her daughter Julie (DeHavin), son Michael, daughters Patricia and Debbie; her grandsons, Nick and Tracy Jr.; and several more grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she took great pride in her role as a matriarch.

A woman who was quick to speak her mind, Nancy's witty remarks and spirited personality will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. She was particularly fond of watching "Judge Judy" and enjoyed any sports game that her husband followed, especially when it came to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The family extends special thanks to nurses Sherrie and Amanda and all the care staff at Kansas City Hospice for their compassionate support during her final days. Nancy Marie Rivas will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and strength will continue to resonate within her family for generations to come.
