Nancy Coe Larimore Benton passed away February 16, 2025, peacefully with family present at Aberdeen Village in Olathe, Kansas. She was born June 2, 1934, to Merrilese and James Larimore in Kansas City, Missouri. She married Duane Calvin Benton on August 19, 1953.
Nancy is survived by her husband Duane, son Kirk Benton, daughter Julie Benton Rogers, grandchildren Caleb Benton, George Jason Rogers, and Sophie Angela Rogers, great grandchildren, Troy, Aaron and Blake Hernandez, and Cade Benton, and many loving cousins and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Kenneth and James Larimore.
In 1961, with the assistance of her husband Duane, she was able to overcome the difficulty of women not being able to get a business loan and cofounded Creative Candles. As an artist, Nancy was known for her beautiful banded pillar candles. She was a member of the businesswomen's group Central Exchange. Following the death of her brother Ken, Nancy volunteered at Missys' Boutique, part of the University of Kansas Cancer Center. An avid gardener and lover of the arts and music, she contributed regularly to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Nelson-Atkins Museum, Powell Gardens, the Kansas City Symphony, and other organizations for many years.
Frequent travelers, Nancy and Duane enjoyed exploring many beautiful and interesting places around the world. She is missed and will be loved forever by those left behind.
We are grateful for the wonderful care she received by caregivers from Synergy Home Care, Aberdeen Village, and Ascend Hospice. A private celebration of life service will be held on May 31st, 2025 please contact kirkabq@aol.com for details. Donations may be sent to Missys' Boutique or Central Exchange in lieu of flowers.
