Michael Andrew "Andy" Staus passed away on August 10th, 2023 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS after a valiant battle with brain cancer. Andy was born on February 10th, 1950 to Virgil Staus and Ruth (Rumsey) Kandle in Sedalia, Missouri. In his youth, he lived in Chaumont, France and Prineville, Oregon before moving back to Sedalia where he met the love of his life, Anna Christine "Chris" (Petree) Staus. They married on July 1st, 1972 and went on to have two sons, Justin and Lucas. Andy was a dedicated husband and father. He was extremely proud of his family — his greatest joy. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, in-law, and friend. Andy was passionate about hunting and fishing, especially with his sons. He enjoyed studying maps, watching soccer, Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and Kansas City Chiefs football. Andy was an entrepreneur who owned a construction business for many years, and he enjoyed working alongside his relatives. Andy had a true spirit of giving. He was quick to lend his time and hand to anyone who needed it. He coached recreational and youth soccer, which created a lasting positive impact on his players. Andy and Chris organized fundraisers that allowed many children to continue playing soccer at a higher level. He was quick with a joke and a stranger to no one. Andy was predeceased by his father, Virgil Staus. He is survived by Chris, his wife of 51 years, sons Justin (Melanie) Staus and Lucas (Casey) Staus, grandchildren Tanner and Avery, mother Ruth Kandle, half-brother Joe (Stephanie) Staus, and many other cherished family members. Memorials may be sent to the family at 30711 Randy Drive, Sedalia, Missouri 65301. A celebration honoring Andy's life will be planned and announced later this fall.
