Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mark O'Neal Ambler, born on May 23, 1959, who departed from this world on October 21, 2023. Anyone who knew him knew that, he was a beacon of strength and resilience, Mark's absence leaves an irreplaceable void in our lives.

Born to George W. Ambler Sr. (deceased) and Joyce G. Robinson (deceased) who later moved to Ottawa and married Tyson Harvey Sr. Mark grew up surrounded by love and warmth from his siblings and parents. His spirited personality and gentle warmth will be dearly remembered by his relatives - his father, Tyson Harvey Sr. His brother George W. Ambler Jr., sister-in-law Christy Ambler, brother Homer Ambler (deceased), sister Marie Ambler (deceased), sister Tonya Harvey, brothers Tyson Harvey Jr. and Dean Lane, sister Harriett Staffney, brother-in-law Vurna Staffney, brother Richard White, and sister-in-law Lisa White, brother Tyrone Claiborne. Lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He went to Hawthorne Elementary and graduated from Ottawa High School where he kept life long friendships. Mark was the first in his family to graduate from college, he graduated from Emporia State University in 1982 with a bachelors degree in Buisness Administration .

He worked for the EPA in Kansas City for 10 years. He loved jazz music and old school albums, played the drums, keyboard and harmonica. He loved cooking on his smoker, WWF wrestling, The Young and the Restless, and yorkie dogs! He started Pet sitting recently because he loved animals so much. He rocked his Bermuda style and always carried his "man bag." He loved plants and was a diehard Kansas City Chiefs fan.

He married Gwendolyn Isbell in 1995, and gained stepdaughters Glenda Isbell & Unique Lacks and had 4 step grandbabies, Hailey Lacks, Charles Miller III, Ja'Sanii Anderson, and Jamal Anderson. Even though the marriage ended the girls have fond memories of their trip to Disney, their long talks and the advice he gave them. He was always willing to help others and had a smile that carried so much love. At this Celebration of Life Service it will be an opportunity to share stories, memories, and honor the life that Mark lived so fully.
