Lois Carolyn Thompson died on December 5, 2024. A long-time resident of Kansas City, Lois was born in Waverly, Iowa on July 5, 1938. Lois graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute with a BFA and from UMKC with a Masters in Printmaking. Lois was a lifelong and prolific artist continuously pursuing her passion for drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and printmaking. She shared these passions on multiple trips to Venice Italy with her fellow artists.
Lois' artistic talents were reflected in the businesses she co-founded, including The Frame Shop and Gallery in Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Designs for the Needle, Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri. Lois' life was full of play as well; she was an avid tennis player and game player including bridge, euchre, and '42', a family tradition.
Lois is survived by her three children Stuart, Susan, and Paula, and their spouses; her six grandchildren: Kirsten, Camden, Kaitlyn, Jake, Zoe, and Abigail; six great-grandchildren, and her sister Myrleen. Lois was surrounded and loved by special, lifelong friends from every chapter of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Kansas City Hospice, Planned Parenthood, or Operation Breakthrough in Lois' honor.
