Obituary

Lee H. Swanson Jr., 75, passed away at his home on November 26, 2023 while surrounded by loved  ones after a brave and valiant 6-year battle with brain cancer. Lee is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patrice Swanson; a son, Matthew Swanson and his wife Abby of Roeland Park, Kansas; a  granddaughter, Margo; a sister, Linda Stemm and her husband Tom of St. Cloud, Minnesota; and nieces Alyicia, Mara and Regina Stemm.

Born in Duluth, Minnesota, Lee graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Science degree  in Finance, which he earned by attending evening classes while working full-time during the day. From 1964 to 1968, Lee served in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was quickly promoted to one of the  youngest Drill Sergeants on record at the time - at the age of 17.

After serving his country and completing his education, Lee put his natural marketing, sales and  "people"skills to work as a Broker for E.F. Hutton in Chicago, Illinois, and later as an Annuity  Consultant and Sales Director for Epic Life, John Alden and Creative Marketing International.

Lee delighted in time spent with his family. He was a loving husband and life partner, a proud father  who nurtured and cherished his son and doted on his daughter-in-law, an ecstatic grandfather and a devoted brother, brother-in-law and uncle.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Lee H. Swanson and Joyce Housden, and a brother, Peter  Everett.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will follow at a later date. The family asks that memorial donations be  made to the HealthWell Foundation, https://www.healthwellfoundation.org/ as Lee was passionate  about the plight of medically underserved people throughout the U.S. and would have made this issue his next act.
