Judith Roberta Vandaveer, 84, of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on March 14, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on September 30, 1941, to David A. and Roberta L. Vandaveer (Adell) in Neodesha, KS.

The eldest of three children, she enjoyed a wonderful childhood with her two brothers. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Vocal Ensemble from Wichita State University

and taught vocal music for two years. Later, she earned a Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Kansas. As a young mother, she taught private piano and cello lessons out of her home and, subsequently, served for over 20 years as a licensed social worker, primarily at Western Missouri Mental Health Center, until her retirement. However, her greatest role in life was being a devoted and loving mother to her two children, Scott and Chad.

Judy had many hobbies and interests. She loved her kitty cats, doing craft projects, wrapping beautiful gifts, baking, reading—especially mystery novels, cheering on the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, possessing a great passion for music and singing, and most of all, spending quality time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother David A. Vandaveer, Jr., and sister-in-law, Sharon K. Vandaveer.

She is survived by her two cherished sons: Curtis Scott (Jane) Dansby of Parkville, MO, and Chad Stuart Dansby of Denton, TX; her loving brother, Alan R. Vandaveer of Overland Park, KS; her four our blessed grandchildren: Ryan (Abbigail) Dansby, Kyle Dansby, Kayla Dansby, and Tyler Dansby; two great-grandchildren, George and Sloane Dansby; a niece, Stacey (Bruce) Goins of Parkville, MO, and a nephew, Jeffrey (Diana) Vandaveer of Laveen, AZ.

Judy’s sweet and kind soul will be missed by all who knew and loved her. We are comforted in knowing she is singing in heaven now with the choir of angels!

A celebration of life luncheon will be held at a later date.
