Janet Torrance Myers, 68 of Overland Park, Kansas passed away peacefully on April 10th, 2026 surrounded by her family at home. Janet was born August 19, 1957. She grew up in Independence, Kansas and graduated from Independence High School, class of 1975 before continuing her education at Pittsburg State University, class of 1978 earning an accounting degree. She met her husband, Paul in January 1978 in Pittsburg. She married the love of her life on April 21, 1979 in Independence, Kansas. She then moved to Mission, Kansas where she lived for 42 years.
Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister, and aunt who selflessly prioritized her family throughout her life. She especially took pride in her children and grandchildren and loved to share their accomplishments.
Janet enjoyed a long career in banking where coworkers and customers quickly became friends. Janet loved dogs and adopted several from local shelters with a special fondness of bird dogs throughout her life. Janet loved music, particularly Motown and shared many fond memories attending concerts with family and friends. Janet was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Royals, Chiefs and Jayhawk games.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Wilma Torrance. She is survived by her loving husband Paul, her brother Fred Jr. (Marilyn), daughter Susan, son Tom (Megan) granddaughter Maren, grandsons Jack and Ben, many nephews, nieces, and in-laws. She had many loving friends, including an especially close bond with the Lacy family, sharing holidays, vacations to the Ozarks and Colorado, summers at the pool and playing spades, all filled with laughter and love.
We will honor Janet with a celebration of life at The American Legion Post 0370, 7500 W 75th St. Overland Park, KS 66204 on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, 2:00 - 4:00 pm.
