James Paul Kohl

April 21, 1943-May 22, 2025

Jim Kohl succumbed to throat cancer after a courageous years-long battle. Born in Kansas City to Helen and Glen Kohl, Jim graduated from Southwest High School in 1961 and went on to receive a B.S. in Marketing from UCM(Warrensburg). Jim started his adventurous life in scouting and became an Eagle Scout.

A desk job was not for him. He was an avid traveler, painter, tile setter, listener, storyteller, and connoisseur of beer. Hie life’s resume includes building a 65’, 40-ton boat in Raytown with his brother Gene, traveling from London to India on a motorcycle as well as traveling through Mexico and Central America. His favorite places to travel included Columbia and Southeast Asia with Cambodia at the top of the list.

Jim was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Gene. He was the end of the line for the Kohl family. He will be missed by long-time friends and especially Mary Pat Kloster, his partner of over 38 years. A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer. Now, as Jim would say, “OVER and OUT!”
