Obituary

Jacquie Anning, loving mother, and grandmother, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Villa St. Francis in Olathe, Kansas.

Jacqueline Ann Price was born as the second daughter to Clifford and Louise Price in Coffeyville, Kansas on October 21, 1938 - joining her older sister Sandra.  The young family moved to Kansas City, Kansas for several years before moving and settling in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where Jacquie graduated from Bartlesville High School in 1956.  Jacquie attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater where she earned her bachelor's degree in education in 1960.

While at Oklahoma State, she began dating a long-time family friend Don Anning of Coffeyville, Kansas who was attending the University of Kansas in Lawrence.  After Don's graduation from KU, Jacquie and Don were married on August 6, 1961, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Bartlesville.  The young couple settled in Prairie Village, Kansas where they lived most of the rest of their lives raising their two sons Chris and Doug.

Jacquie was an educator who began her career teaching at Belinder Elementary School in what is now the Shawnee Mission School District and then continued later teaching at St. Michael & All Angel's Montessori Day School and also worked as a paraprofessional with special needs students at Shawnee Mission North.  Jacquie enjoyed the arts and had a creative spirit and created the silhouette logo for the St. Michael's Day School in the early 1970s.

A life-long Episcopalian, Jacquie and Don started attending St. Michael's and All Angels Episcopal Church in Mission, Kansas in 1961 where she was active in many ministries including the Cursillo movement, and a member of a Benedictine lay order The Worker Sisters of the Holy Spirit.

The most important role in Jacquie's life was clearly that of grandmother and then great-grandmother.  The joy from her three grandchildren Sarah, Jessica, and Nick brought her immense pride, even made more enhanced with her great-grandchildren Paige and Jeffrey.

Jacquie was preceded in death by her loving husband Don in 1992, her great grandson Jack Coatney in 2019, and her sister Sandra K. Britton in 2021.

Jacquie is survived by her sons Chris Anning and Doug Anning (Kirk Isenhour), grandchildren Sarah Jenkins (Jeff), Jessica Coatney (Will), and Nick Anning (Bethany Reyna), and great-grandchildren Paige Coatney and Jeffrey Jenkins. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Jennifer Anning, her sisters-in-law Betsy Anning & Kathy Cribb, and nephews Ross and Brad Britton, along with many cousins and extended family and friends.

Jacquie faced many health challenges throughout her adult life and also dealt with the devastating loss of her husband at a relatively young age. Her family is especially grateful that in her final years, living with Alzheimer's, Jacquie seemed relatively content and peaceful. They are especially grateful to the staff of Villa St. Francis and the caregivers at Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care who eased Jacquie's final months.

A Memorial Service and Interment will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024, at St. Michael & All Angel's Episcopal Church at 6630 Nall Avenue, Mission Kansas at 2:30 PM with a reception to follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to either St. Michael and All Angel's Day School or Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care in Jacquie's memory.
