Obituary

Gregory Charles "Greg" Klemm, 62, passed away on May 7, 2024, in Kansas City, Kansas, after a prolonged illness. He was born on November 20, 1961, in Kansas City, Kansas, and attended school in Atlanta, Georgia, and Deer Park, New York before moving to the Overland Park area in 1975. Greg was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, and his warm smile and giving nature will never be forgotten.

Greg had a remarkable talent for all things mechanical and had a passion for restoring cars, motorcycles, vintage antiques, and various treasures. He bought his '49 Mercury before he could drive and was soon cruising the streets in a fully restored Classic and later added a Harley Davidson to his collection. He also enjoyed fishing, being out in nature, and the taste of a nice home-grown tomato. Greg had a kind heart and a thoughtful nature and cared deeply for his family and friends, and gave what he could to support those in his life. Greg's life changed dramatically in May 1983 as he suffered a spinal cord injury and spent the remainder of his life in a wheelchair. He lived independently and was able to drive a van and then a pickup truck. Greg continued to work on numerous motorized projects until being hospitalized for the last few years.

A 1980 graduate of Shawnee Mission West, Greg was a valued member of the Wrestling and Football teams, which helped shape his work ethic. He also attended Pittsburg State University and JCCC. Greg held many jobs in his youth and became a skilled rough-in carpenter, mechanic, and salesman.

Greg is preceded in death by his father, Gerald "Jerry" Klemm, as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by his loving mother, Margaret "Peggy" Klemm, devoted siblings Pam (Scott) Talpers, Kevin (Iva) Klemm, Karen Becker, Eric Klemm, and cherished nieces and nephews Heather (Dan) Stucky, Bennett Talpers, Adam Talpers, Rachel Klemm, Emily Klemm, Kevin Klemm Jr., Olivia Becker and Marcus Becker.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Greg's lifelong friends who supported him over the years and to all who listened through long conversations as he navigated life's challenges.
