Gerald (Jerry) Vernon Mantooth Jr. passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Jerry was born in Olathe, KS to Dorothy and Gerald V. Mantooth Sr. on August 22, 1950. He graduated from Olathe High in 1968, and then attended Emporia State University and graduated in 1972 with a degree in Business. Throughout his college career, Jerry played baseball for Emporia State, and he also tried out for the Kansas City Royals in the early 1970s, making it to the final cuts as a pitcher. Jerry went on to work at Deluxe Corporation for 39 years. During that time he met and married Patricia Ann Carpenter (Mantooth) on June 8, 1974. They resided in Johnson County for 47 years, where they raised their two children, Lindsay Dawn and Matthew Drake Mantooth. Jerry had a passion for baseball and collecting sports memorabilia. For several years in the 1990s, Jerry owned and operated a sports memorabilia business called The Batter's Box. Jerry's other passions included woodworking, knitting, and was a Disney enthusiast. Jerry was a kid at heart, who enjoyed visiting Disney World and Disneyland, and he also enjoyed watching Disney cartoons with his two granddaughters, Miranda Grace and Marissa Lynne. He enjoyed being a "Papa" and was always there for his granddaughters' life events and encouraged them to become successful adults. Jerry was survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Lindsay, son Matthew, granddaughters Miranda and Marissa, brother, John Province (Connie), and sister, Cheryl Towner (Larry). He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald, and mother, Dorothy. Memorial Contributions With Jerry's passion for the holidays, we decided to honor his memory by accepting donations through GoFundMe, so we could provide those in need with a Christmas just as special as the Christmas he provided for his family. We chose to do this in lieu of flowers. Jerry always wanted to be a Secret Santa, and now he has the possibility to do that. Service The services will be a Celebration of Life for Jerry on Saturday, October 23, 2021 beginning with a visitation at 10 am followed by the 11 am service. The service will be held at: Prairie View Family Church 27772 W 135th St. Olathe, KS 66061
