Gerald "Jerry" P. Andre passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, with family at his bedside. Born in San Francisco, California, in 1940, he lived most of his childhood years in Honolulu and attended Punahou High School. After attending The University of Kansas on a US Navy scholarship and being an active member of Delta Chi Fraternity, he lived most of his adult years as a long time Kansas City area resident always cheering on the Jayhawks, Chiefs, and Royals. Jerry loved his family and is survived by his five children - Philip Andre, Julie Andre, Michelle Andre, Lawrence Andre, and Gerald P. Andre, Jr (married to Stephanie Andre). Jerry also has eight grandchildren – Lauren Paolo, Jessica Andre, Catherine Andre, Ryan Solis, Megan Solis, Sam Andre, Henry Andre, and Max Andre, two great-granddaughters, and his two sisters - Babette Andre and Judy Wiegman.
Professionally, he worked in Public Accounting, Banking, and Medical Practice Management. He enjoyed years of public service as a member of Mission City Council and was honored to represent Merriam in the Kansas State House of Representatives. Jerry's interests included golf, tropical plant gardening, traveling, and being an active member of the Church of the Resurrection – Leawood, Kansas.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Resurrection – Leawood, Kansas, in The Wesley Chapel (Building C) on February 1, 2025, at 1:00 pm Central Time. A livestream will be available approximately 30 minutes before at cor.org/memorialsonline . In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration of a donation made in Jerry's memory to one of the following organizations: American Cancer Society ( cancer.org ), American Film Institute – Catherine Andre Master Thesis Film "Behind the Mask" ( https://www.behindthemaskfilm.com/ ), and Church of the Resurrection – Leawood, Kansas - A United Methodist Church (https://my.resurrection.church/givenow)
