Frances
Phillips
Jun 18, 1939 — Sep 27, 2024
Frances Phillips, a beloved matriarch and devoted servant to her community, passed away on September 27, 2024, in her hometown of Kansas City at the age of 85. Born Frances Sherrell on June 18, 1939, she lived a life filled with love, care, and unwavering dedication to helping others.
Frances' journey included being an end-of-life caregiver, a job that showcased her profound empathy and compassion. She also worked as a nanny, nurturing young lives, and served as a licensed EMT, providing critical assistance in times of urgent need. Her professional life was a testament to her relentless spirit and caring heart.
Her interests reflected the essence of who she was: a woman who loved her grandkids dearly, found joy in cooking, and dedicated herself to her church community. Frances worked diligently in the nursery at Susquehanna Baptist Church. Along with her loving and dedicated husband, Robert "Bob" Phillips, contributed time and energy to the church food pantry, ensuring that those in need were not forgotten.
Her faith was foundational to her life. She was born again and baptized in the Nianga River, a spiritual experience that she cherished deeply. As a member of Susquehanna Baptist Church, Frances found her second family and a place to express her unwavering devotion to God.
Frances's personal life was equally rich. She married Boyd Wilson in 1955, with whom she had four loving children: Bruce Wilson, Pam Wilson, Daniel (Beverly) Wilson, and Michelle Bird. In 1997, she was blessed with the love of her life, Robert Phillips, and with another wonderful daughter, Shelley (Savva) Biskinis.
She is survived by her husband, Bob, her children and their spouses; her sister Judy (Alan) Blair, her grandchildren, Boyd Alexander (Jacquelyn) Wilson, Irene Biskinis, Greg Biskinis, Jessica (Jason) Hanna, Cathy Krumm, Karin (Matt) Gillpatrick, Dustin (Rena) Turner and 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Services will be held at Susquehanna Baptist Church, 17800 East Susquehanna Ridge, Independence, MO 64056, Sunday, September 29, 2024. Visitation at 1pm. Services at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Susquehanna Baptist Church Food Pantry, continuing Frances's lifelong mission to help others.
Frances Phillips will be remembered for her extraordinary spirit, her boundless generosity, and the countless lives she touched with her warmth and compassion. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service, inspiring all who knew her to live with the same grace and devotion.
