Obituary

Flora M. Strecker

Flora, a resident of Lee's Summit, MO passed away on February 26, 2025.  Most family and friends knew her as Margaret.  She was born November 13, 1925, to Alfred (Dutch) and Helen Forsmann of Liberal, KS.  She attended Kansas University where she met Hubert (Herb) Strecker in a dance class.  They married on June 6, 1948, and remained married for 56 years until Herb's death.  Herb's jobs took them to several cities, but they mainly resided in Liberal until 1964 when Herb was transferred to Kansas City and they resided in Overland Park, KS.

Margaret was a secretary for several companies but found her niche as a legal secretary with United Telecom. It was there she met her dear friend of almost 50 years, JoeAnne Miller. They shared many laughs and good times. Upon retiring from United Telecom in 1984 they moved to Colorado Springs, CO.  They had vacationed many times in Colorado and enjoyed fishing and hiking. Upon Herb's death, she returned to the Kansas City area.

She was an excellent seamstress, learning from her mother.  She made clothes for her daughters when they were young.  Later in life they enjoyed traveling across the U.S. and internationally.

Margaret loved ice cream and chocolate.  Anyone close to her knew of her 'additions'.  It didn't matter what form ice cream, cake, cookies or chocolates.  She knew her way around the city by where the Baskin Robbins were located. There better be ice cream and chocolate in heaven!!

She was preceded in death by her husband Herb, parents Alfred and Helen Forsmann, brother Alfred Dale, sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Jack Penny, and brother-in-law Alfred Dietz.  She is survived by daughters Dorothy (Chris) Campo of Lee's Summit, MO, Cynthia O'Malley of Walnut Creek, CA, brother-in-law Norman (Linda) Strecker of Bellflower, CA, sister-in-law Ruth Dietz of Cheyenne, WY, and many nieces and nephews.  Her wishes were to be cremated, and ashes buried in the Forsmann family plot in Liberal, KS.
