Evelyn L. Zacharias left this world on October 6, 2017, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Merriam, KS. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas on August 7, 1929, to Dora and Lester Long, and later adopted by step-father Phillip A. Feist. Evelyn graduated from St. Mary College, Leavenworth, Kansas in 1949, lived in Germany for 40 years where she taught at US Army elementary schools, married Ulrich Zacharias in 1956, and raised four children. She nurtured her children's hobbies and life pursuits; she enjoyed square dancing, crafts, traveling with her family, the companionship of her beloved pets, and maintaining life-long friendships. Evelyn is survived by her children Ellen Wickramaratne (Bandula), Peter, Karin and Anita Zacharias (Stewart Bunn); her grandson Mario Wickramaratne (Ashley); great-granddaughters Stella and Juliet; and her close cousins Mary Jean Meditz, and Eugene (Aina) and Don (Helen) Stalzer. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct 21 at 9:30 A. M. , Mass at 10:00 A. M. , at St. Joseph Catholic Church (old high school gym), 11525 Johnson Drive, Shawnee Kansas, followed by burial at Mt.
