Edwin G. Granstrom, 91, Leawood, KS, passed away October 10, 2017. Ed was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Westport High School and the University of Kansas. He served in WWII as a pharmacist mate and surgical assistant in the Navy, stationed in Washington D. C. He was an industrial engineer for Bendix/Honeywell for 36 years until he retired at 58 to enjoy his family and the Osage Beach, Missouri lake home that and his wife built. He is survived by his lovely wife of 67 years, Martha; sister, Helen, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends young and old. Ed will be remembered as a proud Swedish American and lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. He was fair minded and honest with unquestionable integrity and generosity. He had an innate curiosity that earned him the childhood nickname of Question Box, which led him to engineering; pursuing knowledge, developing best practices and communication and/or executing the process for the current and future benefit of all. His goal was to be independent and provide for his family, while he was here and long after he was gone. Ed was the true patriarch of our family. His guidance, creative storytelling and true love of God and family is cherished and will be missed. He left the world a better place. A memorial Service will be on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at First Lutheran Church, 6400 State Line, Mission Hills, KS 66208. Visitation at 1:00pm with service following at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted to First Lutheran Church.
