Doug Handley, 69, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away on August 9, 2017, at home after battling Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Doug was born in Creston, Iowa, on December 19, 1947, the son of Robert and Ethel Handley of Greenfield, Iowa. He proudly served in the Army during Vietnam. After being discharged from the Army he attended and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University. He was a Special Agent for the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service from 1975-2001. In 1969 he married the love of his life, Glenda (Carrick) Handley. They were blessed with two children, Bob Handley of Shawnee, and Shannon (Handley) Allen also of Shawnee. He has six grandchildren whom he dearly loved: Briana, Courtney, Alexis, Cameron, Braden, and Carson, and one great-grandchild Emmett. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Handley, and brother Terry Handley. Survivors include his loving wife Glenda, his children Bob (Jenny), Shannon (Clint), his mother Ethel, his brother Randall (Betty), sister Carol (Virgil), and sister-in-law Lynn. Besides his immediate family, Doug leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, and many cherished friends. Services will be held on Friday, August 18, at 2:00, at Lenexa United Methodist Church, 9138 Caenen Lake Road, Lenexa, Kansas 66215.
