David Mason, 83, Lenexa, KS, passed away suddenly after a brief battle with cancer on February 18, 2016, surrounded by his family. Born in Birmingham, England, David graduated from the University of Birmingham. He conducted geological survey work in Ghana, Africa, before moving to Canada to earn his Masters in Geology and begin his 35 year career with Chevron Oil. He married Margaret (Griffiths), raised three daughters and enjoyed 53 years of marriage. As a couple David and Margaret collected great friends and memories during their moves from Calgary to California to Denver then Houston before moving to Kansas in 2014. David loved traveling, gardening, tennis, golf, and, of course, rocks. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him especially his wife, Margaret; daughters, Joanne Murrie (Drew), Judith Little (Wayne), and Elizabeth Sears (Michael); five grandsons, David, Jackson, Peter, Jonathan and Harrison; and his sister, Doreen Hemming, Devon, England. A memorial service will be held at Lakeview Village, Lenexa, KS, on Saturday, March 12, 2016, 2 pm, in Southridge.
