David R. Hassler, 70, of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024.

Dave was born in Washington, Missouri on June 9, 1954, to the late Armal "Bert" and Dorothy (Jenkins) Hassler.

Dave was a lifelong roofer, owning H&H Roofing at one time. Back in his ornery days, Dave enjoyed spending time outdoors bird hunting, trap shooting, canoeing, and riding motorcycles; he also enjoyed dancing. Dave enjoyed visiting his many family members in Missouri and did so often. He always looked forward to the KC Chiefs and KU basketball and football seasons. Even more, he loved going to the KU football tailgates and games with Shane and the Hutch boys. Dave welcomed his 1st grandson, Hunter, with open arms and attended every football game he was able to. He was thrilled when his 2nd grandson, Maddox, came along and never missed a baseball game or birthday party.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jan, and his beloved sister, Joy Pruessner. He is survived by his son, Shane (Kelly) Hassler, and grandsons Hunter and Maddox, all of Shawnee, Kansas; daughter, Terra (Clayton) Caspari, granddaughter, Holli (Austin) Harmon and three great-grandchildren, all of Washington, Missouri; brother, Carry (Sandi) Hassler of New Haven, Missouri; sister, Mamie Irvin of Virginia; nieces, Shelley (Chip) Stutzman and Tammy (Matt) Schutt, all of Berger, Missouri; many great nieces and nephews; and close friend, Terri.

Memorial services will be held at Memorial Baptist Church in New Haven, Missouri with burial at New Haven Cemetery to follow. Date and time are to be determined.
