Christopher Alan Sosna, affectionately known to his friends as "Ray Goulet" or simply "Ray" passed away on September 21, 2025, in Merriam, Kansas, after a courageous battle with rapid onset Alzheimer. Born on June 9, 1955, in Kansas City, Kansas, Chris was 70 years old at the time of his passing.
Chris dedicated his early years to serving his country as a proud member of the United States Navy. Upon returning from the sea, he forged many friendships working at various establishments throughout Kansas. He spent several years at Suters Restaurant in Kansas City and later shared laughs and camaraderie at Kill Creek Pub in Desoto. His career path also led him to J.C. Print Shop in Overland Park, and for many years, he was a valued driver for Quest Laboratories.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Chris had a passion for sports betting and was particularly devoted to the Chicago Cubs, rarely missing a game. Wrestling, whether watched with friends or on television, was another pastime he cherished deeply.
As a Navy veteran, Chris was actively involved with several VA organizations, reflecting his commitment to fellow servicemen and servicewomen.
Chris was preceded in death by his father Frank A. Sosna, his mother Betty A. Sosna, his stepmother Betty L. Sosna, and his stillborn sister, LeeAnn Sosna. He leaves behind a loving family, including his five brothers: William (and his wife Pamela), Ronald (and his wife Lynne), Michael (and his wife Lynne), Dennis P. (and his wife Donna K.), and his youngest brother Mark. He is also survived by numerous extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Throughout his life, Chris was surrounded by friends who became like family. His endearing nicknames were tokens of the lasting bonds he formed over the years. In the face of his illness, Chris's friends rallied around him, ensuring he could spend his final months in the comfort of his apartment in Shawnee. The family extends sincere gratitude to Bill Dalton, James Herrold, and all those who offered their love and support during his final months.
A Visitation will be held on November 20 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church at 9:30a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. Chris will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas, where he will join his father, resting at his feet.
Chris's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, a testament to the laughter he shared and the lives he touched.
