Carroll (Tip) Newport, long time resident of DeSoto KS, most recently of Wellsville, Kansas, passed away March 22, 2023 at 11:50PM. Tip was born in Norborne, MO on October 12, 1936 to John Henry Newport and Mamie (Parsons) Newport. He graduated from DeSoto High School in 1954. Tip married Carole Maureen Mitchell on February 19, 1960. They raised their family and lived most of their lives in DeSoto, KS. Carole Newport (wife) currently resides at Wellsville Health & Rehab. Tip was preceded in death by his son Stephen Wayne Newport, and is survived by his children: Teresa (Orval) Doty, of Blue Mound, KS, Nancy (Dusk) Vasquez, of Edgerton, KS, Hank (Jody) Newport, of DeSoto, KS, Peggy (Bob) Burns of Shawnee, KS, four grandchildren Amy (Wally) Reynolds of DeSoto, KS, William (Andrea) Doty of Shawnee, KS, Laura (Brian) Duncan of Olathe KS, Sara (Derrek) Schulz of Rantoul, KS, 11 great grandchildren Kaylee Reynolds, Madaline Reynolds, Julia Meier, Lucas Doty, Adeline Doty, Briar Duncan, Braxton Duncan, Liam Duncan, Lawson Duncan, Holden Schulz, Emmett Schulz and 1 great-great grandchild Luna Jackson. Tip loved his family and cherished spending time with them. He loved fishing, listening to music, and gardening. He had a small orchard when his children were young that they all remember fondly. He also loved to celebrate the 4th of July and made it a big tradition for his family. He enjoyed decorating for all of the holidays in his later years. Tip held several jobs over the years. Working many years at Atwell's Service Station in DeSoto, DeSoto USD 232 School District in the Maintenance department and also for Blue Hills Country Club in Kansas City, MO as well as running his own plumbing business for a while.
