Carolyn (Kanaga) Kupersmith, 56, left us July 8, 2010. She was the daughter of Clinton and Nina Kanaga. Carolyn attended Border Star Grade School and Southwest High School, where she was an honor student and president of the Tri Hi Y. She attended the University of Kansas and was in the Gamma Phi Beta sorority, where she was president of her pledge class. She graduated with a degree as an occupational therapist (OT), and served in a hospital in Hawaii. She married Michael Chappell, and they moved to Clemson, South Carolina, where she first worked as an OT for the school district. They divorced, and she returned to Kansas City, Mo. Later she married V. Stephen Kupersmith. Carolyn was an incredibly loving and devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed. When she faced adversity, she lived with courage and grace, without complaint. Her kindness and selflessness was evident to everyone who knew her. She is survived by her mother; her husband; brothers Stephen C. Kanaga, Eugene, Ore. , and William G. Kanaga (Joan), Prairie Village, Kan. ; nephews Ross and David of Eugene, Ore. , and Jonathan and niece Sarah; all Kanagas, and several cousins.
