Carolina (Larios) Coleman 75, of Ottawa, Kansas, died November 3 surrounded by her beloved family at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. She succumbed to serious injuries sustained after she fell unexpectedly. A nurse for 35 years at the Edith Nourse Veterans Hospital in Bedford, Massachusetts, she had a long career caring for sick and injured veterans. She graduated from St. Lukes Nursing School in Kansas City, Missouri. She launched her career as an ER nurse at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Mass. , and later specialized in respiratory care and geriatrics as a nursing manager. She was inspired to help others and was sought out for her nursing management expertise as well as her career advice mentoring younger nursing staff. After she retired and returned to Kansas, she volunteered at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa. Carolina was also an expert needlepoint sewer, cross-stitch enthusiast, crocheter, knitter, and painter. Her creativity and eye for design resulted in winning numerous blue ribbons at local fairs on the East Coast where she lived for 40+ years. She idolized French cuisine and infused its savory character into all her everyday creations especially her Mexican family dinners. She is best remembered as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. Carolina leaves her husband Richard, her son Mark Coleman and her grandchildren Kyle, Alec, Davis and Callie, as well as her daughter Lisa Lauducci and son-in-law Joe Lauducci. She also leaves her sisters Marcelina Baer (husband Rod Baer), Cristina Coomer (husband Dan Coomer), and Elizabet Huff; her brothers Delfino (Sonny) Larios (wife Senida) and Jose (Butch) Larios; her aunts Gloria Alfaro and Rachel Cortez; and many nieces and nephews. A private memorial service is planned at the family's home on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 11 a. m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to: American Diabetes Association P. O.
