Obituary

On May 18th, 2024, at 5:30 am, Bradley Dean Osborn, 75, quietly slipped away to be with Jesus.

Brad had been unknowingly battling Stage IV cancer for quite some time and the final storm was rough, fast, and yet peaceful in the end. He spent his final week surrounded by everyone who loved him on an almost 24-hour basis.

No one will ever forget the memories made during that time.

Brad was born on May 22, 1948, in Webb City, Missouri, and was proud of his youth as a farm boy in Asbury. This history included being attacked by the family rooster, a story he loved to retell, and cutting off the braid of a young blonde schoolmate. Just a few years after this latter offense, his mother heard about it—and a child-age Bradley requested a judicial statute of limitations on the act.

Brad went on to attend Carl Junction High School and Missouri Southern State University. Although he grew up not knowing Jesus, he met his loving Savior in college, and the rest of his life was dedicated to Christ and sharing His love with those around him.

He is survived by his devoted wife Janie Marie Osborn; his four children Brett Michael Osborn and wife Victoria, Tammy Jo Osborn, Ginny Lynne Osborn, and Blake Harrison Osborn; his four grandchildren Silas Dattilo Osborn, Amelia Josephine Osborn, Jackson Titus Osborn, and Kaali Elizabeth Jain Osborn; his sister, Sherry Ann Joseph and husband Bill, and their two children Sarah Johnson and Forrest Joseph; his former wife Sherry Lynne Osborn; and his two beloved cats, Sullivan and Tallulah.

Brad was known for his devotion to Jesus, his love for his family, and his tireless work ethic. His drive to succeed and do good, to serve others and to sacrifice, to share Christ and love without judgement was a testament to all who knew him.

His smile was his trademark—it greeted you like a ray of sunshine—and every day, he paired it with a nicely pressed suit and matching tie. Even when the rest of his sales world went casual polo, he shined his shoes, donned some cologne, and wore his preferred business attire instead.

He loved to talk politics, write letters to congressmen and women, serve in a church proclaiming the gospel, spend time with his kids, watch movies with his wife, and play with his cats.

For his kids and grandkids, he would do anything: he walked through blackberry fields dripping with sweat, always jumped in for a swim, proudly hosted family dinners, and listened to those who were struggling with endless patience.

He hated bird poop on his car, the falling apart of our culture, and wrinkled two-dollar bills—in that order.

We will never forget the walks, the talks, and the cold root beers on front porches. We will never forget mocha breves from The Roasterie, his offered finger when we crossed the street as kids, his powerful singing voice in church, rubbing the whiskers on a face that was usually clean-shaven, love notes on rainbow paper when he was away on long trips, and fighting over his work t-shirts for pajamas.

We will never forget pretending to be asleep so he would have to carry us to bed—over and over again—nor breaking the bed repeatedly during our childhood bedtime shenanigans, nor his prayers over dinner that never quite got to blessing the food but touched on everything else.

His presence will always be felt, even if it is not seen, in all the memories we continue tomake.

"Do you not know that in a race, all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run insuch a way as to get the prize." 1 Corinthians 9:24-27.

We hope you're enjoying kissing the cup of victory, Dad! It is well-deserved. You'remissed.
